IF YOU'VE noticed a new beauty salon at Sunshine Plaza, the chances are it belongs to Tania Turner.

The multi award-winning owner of Shine Beauty opened her sixth salon this year with husband Joel.

Shine Beauty salons extend from the Gold Coast to Brisbane, Caloundra, Sippy Downs and now Maroochydore.

This month, 17 years after the first salon opened, Mrs Turner was named the Sunshine Coast's Outstanding Business Woman of the Year.

"For me it is recognition for the dedication, energy and effort I've put into Shine Beauty over the past 17 years," she said.

"I hope it is an inspiration and honour that all my Shine Beauty team feel they have can also share.

"They too are so hard-working and dedicated to providing beautiful experiences everyday for our clients."

A "warm, family feel" set her salons apart, she said.

"We have great connections with all our staff, yet our customers often assume our salons are a franchise due to strength our brand, systems and the professional appearance of our stores," she said.

"We take tremendous personal pride in the execution of the services we offer."

Mrs Turner trained in beauty in her early 20s, and worked in salons and day spas for several years, where she gained valuable industry experience, she said.

The Sunshine Coast Business Women's Award gong adds to a series of awards Mrs Turner has received, including the Sunshine Coast Excellence in Business Award in 2007, 2008 and 2011. In 2012 Shine Beauty was inducted into the Sunshine Coast Business Awards Hall of Fame.

"I hope with this award that I can inspire others - hard work and determination can help your dreams to materialise," Mrs Turner said.

She said her journey a businesswoman had been "rich with experiences", and encouraged others considering the path to give it a shot.

"If you are a young girl dreaming of starting in business or a business woman putting in long exhaustive hours, or a woman giving it their all but feeling like no one sees, I want to say to you: stay strong, be determined, keep going, don't give up," she said.

"There will be tough times, but each challenge you solve will leave you wiser and with more strength.

"You can do anything you dream, be anyone you wish to be... winning Outstanding Business Woman of the Year - Sunshine Coast 2016 is proof of that."

10 beauty tips from Tania Turner
1. Moisturise daily. Your skin is your largest organ and often our most neglected.
2. Always use sunscreen. The sun makes your skin age.
3. Shaped brows are on trend more than ever. Have a regular wax and tint and invest in a good brow kit.
4. Exfoliate, exfoliate! Remove dead skin twice a week to let the fresh youthful skin appear
5. Dark circles always look better after eight hours sleep, which is not always possible... a good concealer works a treat!
6. Use your eye cream around your lips as well. It'll help with fine lines.
7. Don't forget about yourself! Regular skin treatments in a salon are a must.
8. Don't forget to prime before you apply your foundation.
9. Our feet take the weight of our world. Monthly pedicures are essential.
10. Drink eight litres of water every day (yes, eight!). Your skin will thank you for it!
